I want to voice my concern on behalf of my team. Our nursery is in the charitable sector and has limited funding. We know that working with children is challenging and demanding and requires high commitment. We work very hard and even when we're short of staff we provide first-class provision. Our limited staff take an active part in fundraising and always show a willingness to work late on such occasions, although the organisation is unable to pay decent wages. Staff need to be qualified and regularly update their training in order to provide excellent Ofsted-approved education. I believe there should be funding available from the local authority to top up the pay of these staff members. The non-maintained sector must be supported, encouraged and appreciated for their good work.
