Time to re-train

Playworkers are to be given time to bring their qualifications up to the level of those required for out-of-school care in the new National Standards for the Regulation of Daycare. Ofsted took over the regulation of the standards last month. The standards state that the person in charge of an out-of-school club must have 'at least a level-3 qualification appropriate to the post' with two years' experience in a day care setting. At least half of the rest of the staff must hold 'a level-2 qualification appropriate for the care or development of children'.
