Total inclusion is the ideal

Total inclusion was the ideal promoted at a reception held last week in the House of Commons by Phil Willis, Liberal Democrat shadow education secretary. He said every child had the right to an education and excluding children from school 'simply sidesteps the issue rather than solving the problem'. Mr Willis said his party believed that permanent exclusion was never an option because it 'ultimately harms both the child and the community, ensuring lasting consequences from what is a temporary problem'.
