Primary head teacher Laurence Keel looks at software for speech and language support and for teaching music Speaking for Myself by Topologika is aimed at pupils with speech and language difficulties working towards level 1 and those working from the 'P' scales. Originally designed for specialist units, it has been improved and enlarged for use in mainstream settings.

The programme itself contains four main sections. The first are onscreen flash cards which talk and write - these are primarily designed to help children learn basic sight vocabulary of everyday words. In addition there is easy access to short Signalong video clips that demonstrate the British Sign Language for the associated word. The pictures are bright and colourful and the spoken words are clear.
