An advocacy unit is to be set up within the Welsh Assembly to support the development of advocacy services for children and young people in Wales, Welsh minister for children Jane Hutt said last week. She was responding to Telling Concerns, a report by the children's commissioner for Wales that made five recommendations for the Welsh Assembly - all of which were accepted - on local authority social services departments' systems of complaints, whistle-blowing, and advocacy for children. Ms Hutt said, 'A children's commissioner is just the beginning of ensuring children in Wales have their voice heard. The strengthening of advocacy services for children will build on this foundation.'
