Resources

Puppet, birthday card, a wrapped present, recycled cardboard boxes, objects to put in boxes as 'presents', wrapping paper, masking tape, Sellotape, string, scissors, gift tags

Activity content

* Introduce the puppet, explain that it is his birthday, and ask the children to help him to open his card and unwrap his present.

* Suggest that they select an object to wrap as a present for the puppet.

Encourage them to select a box and paper of the right size, and to cut the right amount of tape or string.
