Steiner Festival

Brighton Steiner School is hosting a Festival of Steiner Education from16 to 17 September to introduce the Steiner-Waldorf curriculum andteaching principles to practitioners from a wide range ofbackgrounds.

The first day's programme is open to practitioners and parents and willinclude tours of classrooms and an exhibition of work and performancesby Brighton Steiner pupils. Saturday's programme will include lecturesfrom practising Steiner teachers.

Making SENSE

The charity SENSE is holding a conference in Leeds on 11 October, whichwill examine issues in working with deafblind young children. A recentsurvey by SENSE survey has highlighted that services in the UK arefailing to identify many deafblind children.

Acorn consults

Acorn Childcare Training now provides an Ofsted consultancy service tohelp nurseries prepare for inspection. This includes an evaluation ofcurrent policies and practice, and advice on how to meet high standards.The process also includes a training needs analysis which links with thecompany's courses.

Business Master classes

The NDNA used its annual conference to promote its Business MasterClasses, which are structured to last for two hours, over lunch. Theywork on a model that sets out a diagnostic, a clear ambition andtechniques for achieving it.

Areas include: how to sell childcare places and increase occupancy; howto set up a childcare partnership with an employer; how to use IT andincrease numbers; and business expansion - taking over an existingbusiness.

MA in Integrated Provision - clarification

The MA in Integrated Provision for Children and Families, designed forthose working in children's centres, is offered at the Pen Green Centreand accredited by the University of Leicester. See the feature inNursery World, 12 June.
