families to take part in the Bee Scene survey by looking for
bee-friendly wild flowers in parks and green spaces.
The project helps children to understand how valuable biodiversity is, as well as raising awareness about the decline in bumblebees. Using a simple flower key, children can look for foxgloves and dandelions, different flower shapes and colours and bumblebees, before recording the results on to a virtual meadow map of the UK. More than 30,000 children have taken part in the survey since it started in 2010. It has been re-launched with the support of cereal maker Nature's Path, after its lottery funding ended.
