Lord Seb Coe has endorsed the FUNdamental Movement Ideas for Early Years programme designed by British Gymnastics, saying that it demonstrates 'an understanding and appreciation of the needs and motives of children, their parents and teachers'. The FUNdamental programme is designed for children from when they begin to walk until around six years and incorporates those basic skills which provide the foundation for all sports, as well as an active, healthy lifestyle. The emphasis is on fun and exercise and features badges, certificates, wall charts and work cards, all revolving around the characters of Funky Cat and his friends Spring, Stretch, Steady, Speedy, Sporty and Swingy.
