Childminders are the source of fewer than 37 per of the complaints against Government-regulated care providers

Childminders are the source of fewer than 37 per of the complaints against Government-regulated care providers, although they make up more 78 per cent of such carers, the first annual report of the Care Commission has revealed. It said that between April 2002 and March 2003 there were 190 complaints against daycare groups for children, 122 complaints against childminders and one against a childcare agency. Last year the Commission took over responsibility for the inspection of childcare facilities from local councils.
