Eduzone, a company supplying a wide range of early years educational products, began in a very small way with a toy shop in north London. Nigel Thorogood had always been a self-employed retailer, but when he became a parent and toys became part of his life the idea of owning a toy shop of his own became all the more appealing.

Nigel Thorogood had always been a self-employed retailer, but when he became a parent and toys became part of his life the idea of owning a toy shop of his own became all the more appealing.

The shop, which Nigel bought in 1993, is still going strong but the business has expanded rapidly and now includes a warehouse and showroom close by.

The company grew as Nigel began to supply local playgroups and primary schools, and through talking to playgroup leaders and teachers he was able to gain a deeper insight into the needs of the early years education market.
