Dads from the north of England have come top in a national survey of more than 1,000 children, aged four to 13, at out-of-school clubs across the UK.

The survey asked who did what at home, in activities ranging from cooking and shopping to playing games and reading. The survey, carried out by Kids'

Clubs Network (KCN), found that 56 per cent of fathers from Yorkshire and Humber played outdoor games such as football and rounders against the UK average of 49 per cent. They were also best at reading to their children, at 43 per cent compared with an average of 30 per cent of fathers. The survey also found that only 22 per cent of mothers joined in outdoor activities, but 53 per cent read to their children. KCN announced the findings from its Buzz survey during Kids' Clubs Week (23 to 27 June), part of National Sure Start month.
