Evelyn Glennie

(Photograph) - World-renowned Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie gave a special music lesson last week when she returned to her old school near Methlick in Aberdeenshire. She was there to present the 11 pupils at Cairnorrie Primary School with glockenspiels, drums, tambourines, bongos and cymbals, which were donated by the oil company Weatherford. Evelyn started to lose her hearing when she was six and she has been profoundly deaf since the age of 12. She has never heard any of her music and plays by sensing vibrations from her instruments.
