* A new CD-Rom aimed at overcoming communication difficulties in children who have autistic spectrum disorders, called 'ISPEEK', features 1,300 picture symbols covering a wide range of everyday situations. The resource also contains word templates designed to inspire parents and carers in putting together daily schedules and PDF samples to assist them in setting up visual aids for children with autism. 'ISPEEK' costs 23 plus VAT and is available from Jessica Kingsley Publishers at www.jkp.com. * 'Living Every Day' is a new training resource on the theme of life and living processes, combining activities for young children with in-house training and information for practitioners, parents and carers. 'Living Every Day' aims to offer starting points for discussing life processes with young children, helping to promote healthy lifestyles to children and families. * The first Child Trust Fund Week running from 15 to 20 January aims to encourage parents to open Child Trust Fund accounts for their children, if they have not already done so, and to save money regularly into them. HM Revenue & Customs is offering free materials for anyone who works with parents, including a practitioners' workbook, and leaflets for parents who feel less confident financially.
