Keeping out of trouble

'Trouble' is a series of citizenship resource packs for all the Key Stages designed by Building Blocks, the West Midlands Police Charitable Trust. The aims of the resources are wide-ranging, but include helping to promote positive decision-making in children, encouraging assertiveness and greater self-esteem and helping them to play sensibly, with due consideration for others. The pack for the youngest children, aged four to seven, is called 'Uh-Oh Here Comes Trouble!' and consists of Big Books, social behaviour games and teachers' notes for Reception and Year 1. It supports the Literacy Hour as well as the KS1 Citizenship curriculum. Items can be bought separately, so, for example, the Big Books cost 19 each and teachers' notes cost 5. The 'Trouble' series incorporates the role of sector police officers in schools, so teachers may wish to enhance teaching with a visit from a local officer.
