Let's enjoy the golden moments

Why is everybody moaning about their pay so much? I have been working in the same pre-school for the past 11 years, and when I started I was getting 5 a morning. Now I get 16.80 a morning - the minimum wage. I am trained to NNEB standard and have done other training besides throughout the 11 years, even though I knew what low pay I was going to get and that the money was never going to be there.

I must say, though, that it would be nice to have the pay that reflects the workload, but the reason I work and stay where I am is because, quite simply, I love my job working with the children.

It melts my heart when I hear children say, 'I love you', or 'When I grow up I want to be just like you.' These are things that I hear every day, and this, plus making a difference in a child's life because of their behaviour or autism problems, is the reward I would rather have.
