Ann Wallace, the gallery's education officer, said that although the children were often forthcoming in their views about paintings, nursery staff sometimes found talking about art a bit intimidating. 'Young children are comfortable in talking about art, but the staff often do not feel comfortable. They can talk about a picture in a book, but when it comes to a gallery it becomes something mystical to them.
