The gallery has also been running training courses for nursery staff on how art can enhance the early years curriculum. Ann Wallace, the gallery's education officer, said that although the children were often forthcoming in their views about paintings, nursery staff sometimes found talking about art a bit intimidating. 'Young children are comfortable in talking about art, but the staff often do not feel comfortable. They can talk about a picture in a book, but when it comes to a gallery it becomes something mystical to them.
