New fathers get attached to their baby's prams in the same way they get attached to their cars, according to a Yellow Pages poll reported in The Metro. Almost a third of men chose a pram because of its special features or its handling, and around one in four cleaned the buggy every weekend. Many admitted to holding buggy races with other parents while some had even thought about buying speedometers.

The paper also reported the story of a young brother and sister who saved their father's life by flgagging down a passing Father Christmas and his elves for help. Reece Sullivan, six, and sister Ellie, three, ran out of their home in Bicester, Oxfordshire, when their father Paul suffered a diabetic fit. Charity elf Brian Tagg managed to revive him while they waited for an ambulance.

A thief who stole a bag of Christmas presents from a Pizza Hut restaurant in Southampton handed them back after finding out they were destined for children in hospital. The Guardian said they were returned with an anonymous note after CCTV images of the theft were shown on the news.
