The Soil Association has compiled a league table of how much is spent on primary school dinner ingredients in England's 143 local education authorities. The Guardian reported that the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and Wandsworth allocated 70 pence per head on ingredients. The lowest figure, 27 pence, was given by Wokingham but this was later disputed by the local education authority.

Meanwhile, according to The Sun, if you want children to eat vegetables, don't feed them beige-coloured processed foods or rusks when they are babies. The paper said a Birmingham University study found that children prefer foods of the same colour, which could explain why they reject green vegetables for crisps and chips.
