Pumpkin soup

Early years settings across the country enjoyed Halloween last week.Children at Ashbridge Independent School and Nursery in Preston,Lancashire, carved out home-grown pumpkins, which they used to make soupand pumpkin pie.

Pyjama picnic

Happy Jays Nursery in York raised nearly 100 for the Children'sTrust when it took part in Humphrey's Pyjama Week. The children all woretheir PJs to the nursery for a week and joined in with lots of themedactivities, including a special picnic. Last month, they visited a localnursing home to give donations and perform songs to mark harvestfestival.

Tea and sympathy

Little Acorns Day Nursery in Washington, Tyne and Wear, organised anafternoon tea for children and staff as part of its observationalplanning based on food. The children enjoyed eating the scones they hadmade from scratch the day before, along with a cup of tea.
