Scores on the Doors

Early Years Childcare in Hove has received the top five-star award forkitchen hygiene in a scheme run through local authorities with the FoodStandards Agency called Scores on the Doors, which measures the level ofcleanliness where food is prepared and recognises the settings' abilityto maintain high standards of food safety. Early Years Childcare'squality and development manager, Julie Smith, said, 'Food hygiene is ofhigh importance at our nurseries. This award gives some substance to theeffort that our teams put into maintaining the high standards we aimfor.'

WigWam Bam

The Wigwam Day Nursery in Reading has celebrated its first birthday anda successful year in business, which included a 200,000refurbishment, partly funded by the Co-operative Bank's Oxford CorporateBanking Centre. It is the second setting owned by sisters Emma Tennantand Rebecca Platt, who also own the Teepee Day Nursery in Bracknell. Thefunding has allowed the nursery to increase the number of places to 36children, offer Tai Chi, football, French and music lessons, and helpthe nursery gain a five-star food hygiene rating. Director Emma Tennantsaid, 'We are absolutely delighted with the transformation of thenursery within its first year of operation.'
