Children at TLC Nursery, based at Milton Keynes Hospital, explored roadsafety as part of Walk to School Week last month. They learned about theGreen Cross Code and had a special visit from members from the citycouncil.
Rabbit in the garden
Peter Rabbit, or someone looking very much like him, came to visitWilmington Day Nursery in Dartford, Kent, as the winner of Asquith's'Gardening with Peter Rabbit' competition. Crofton Day Nursery inOrpington, Kent, was the runner-up in the competition, held inconjunction with Penguin Books, in which children at Asquith daynurseries and creches took part in a Peter Rabbit themed project andcreated their own book.
Happy Birthday
Staff at Little Acorns Community Day Nursery at the Chai Centre inBurnley, Lancashire, celebrated the setting's fifth anniversary thismonth with a birthday cake and party. The provision caters for childrenfrom birth to eight years old.
Tidy Up time
Children at Early Years Childcare in Lewes, East Sussex, did their bitto keep Britain tidy when they took part in The Big Tidy Up, a nationalcampaign to improve local environments. Wearing special green tabardsand armed with refuse sacks, the children got to work on the localstreets for the biggest-ever spring clean.

Photo of the week Children from Stepping Stones Nursery in Colchester,Essex, put on authentic African dress and learned how to playtraditional instruments to re-enact the story from Eileen Browne'spopular book Handa's Surprise. In their themed project the children alsomade Handa puppets and tried to grow a pineapple.
