Nursery World - Plant and share competition launched

A competition to get children growing seeds in the most unusual containers has been launched by the Soil Association’s Food for Life programme.

To celebrate Plant and Share Month, from 19 April to 19 May, the Food for Life Get Togethers campaign is calling on the nation to dig in and sow, grow and share produce with their local communities.

There will be a prize for the most unusual growing container and nurseries are encouraged to use upcycled materials.

For example, Food for Life employees have already started growing produce in unusual containers. Anne Merry, regional engagement officer, planted parsley in and old potty, to share with local volunteers.
As long as there are holes in the bottom, pretty much any vessel is a pot waiting for a plant.
