Rosemary Murphy and Stephen Burke

(Photograph) - Two of childcare's most prominent public figures were honoured for their achievements last week before making their exit from the sector. A parliamentary reception in Westminster brought together Rosemary Murphy, chief executive of the National Day Nurseries Association (right) and Stephen Burke, director of the Daycare Trust, meeting London Labour MPKaren Buck (centre). Mr Burke is leaving the Trust for the post of chief executive of Counsel and Care, working for better care and housing services for older people. Ms Murphy, who will depart from the NDNA at Easter, will continue to support it in an advisory role (see Special Report, page 10). Photograph by Photo Len Cross
