Safeguarding vulnerable children in Wales

Progress in safeguarding vulnerable children in Wales is to be reviewed under the chairmanship of Welsh Assembly member Gwenda Thomas. The review will consider whether recent measures have been clear and robust enough to deliver safe and effective services in authorities and agencies. It will also look at the effectiveness of inter-agency arrangements in recording and sharing information, taking into account the findings of the Bichard inquiry following the Soham murder trial, and examine the risks and opportunities posed by the internet and new technology in relation to safeguarding children. Submissions of evidence should be sent to Mike Burns or Judith Smetham at the Child Protection and Placements Team, Children and Families Directorate, Welsh Assembly Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ by 2 July.
