Hearing-impaired children

An audit of provision for hearing-impaired children aged nought to two years has been commissioned by the Welsh Assembly from the Royal National Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (RNID) Cymru. Last year the Assembly launched newborn hearing screening, so that all babies in Wales will have a primary hearing test shortly after birth. This screening will be delivered from March by Newborn Hearing Screening Wales. The consultation explores the scheme's background, the current situation and ways forward. Responses should be sent to Katie Steadman, Pupil Support Division 1a, National Assembly for Wales, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ or by e-mail to Katie.Steadman@wales.gsi.gov.uk by 31 January.
