Nursery World - See, nanny does know best

Nannies have finally been getting their due professional credit in the media this month in the form of the 'Supernanny' series on Channel 4. Supernanny Jo Frost - who humbly says she doesn't consider herself any better than any other nanny - has been overwhelmed by the response she's had to the show. Parents contact her to say they're now using her techniques with their children, and nannies say how grateful they are that somebody is telling it like it is for them. 'I think it recognises that nannies sometimes aren't given the chance to talk,' she says. 'I hope this show brings out a bridge between nannies and parents.' Jo, with more than 15 years experience behind her, has set up her own childcare consultancy called Before You Go Ga Ga, which is bound to be in big demand after her stardom on screen. And Jo will be handing on the laurels to another super nanny when she presents the Professional Nanny of the Year award at our conference in London on 2 October (see below).
