Another real nanny is bound for media stardom as a family troubleshooter. Gitte Daniels is 'Wondernanny' on the new weekly magazine Real People, with a bulging postbag from which she's picking out 52 families a year who want her to sort out their childrearing problems. Rather than holding auditions for the role, the editor went through the same recruitment process as a family hiring a nanny would, and chose Gitte. After gaining her NNEB in 1988, Gitte worked as a full-time nanny up until the magazine's launch last month. Now she's spending two or three days with each weekly featured family - 'I can walk into a family home and be a new pair of eyes, being detached and not judging', she says - and reporting back on their progress in Real People. 'If I'm able to help a small community of families, who can all relate to the problems in Wondernanny, then that will be fantastic.'
