Trial by telly?

Nannies struggling to get in shape may be inspired by the latest nanny media star, Lisa Osborne, who's one of the principals on the current BBC1 series 'Diet Trials'. Lisa, a nanny and maternity nurse from Nottingham, was picked from hundreds of hopefuls to test a popular dieting plan under the glare of the TV cameras. She told Professional Nanny, 'Weight problems are definitely an occupational hazard of nannying. You're always picking at the kids' foods and going to children's parties. Whenever I used to be cooking chicken nuggets or smiley faces I'd always put in a few extra for me.' She thinks that she's done very well on the Rosemary Conley diet and that viewers will notice a huge difference at the end of the series. Lisa says she's just concerned that the programme may have distorted her image by choosing a few too many shots of her and the other dieters having a drink - 'but it does show that nannies are no different from anybody else and we can have a social life!' So does she see this leading to the bright lights of a media career? 'I'm not that bothered if I don't,' says Lisa. 'I love what I do for a living as a nanny and I wake up every day feeling lucky that I've got that sort of job.'
