Nurseries and reception classes are likely to be packed with Jacks and Chloes over the coming years, as both have once again topped the list of names given to babies born in 2000. Other favourite names last year were Emily, Charlotte and Megan for girls and Thomas, James and Joshua for boys. The most popular new entry for girls was Daisy, while Max gained the most ground in the boys' charts.
