I have been reading books to children for the past 20 years, in which countless animals talk, Father Christmas flies across the sky with reindeer and numerous other impossibilities occur. As these books misrepresent the world to children, does Rachel Gallagher (Letters, 25 May) throw them in the bin? Or does she read them, exploring the great world of fantasy we all need and enjoy?
