New face at NCB

The National Children's Bureau has named Jane Lewis as its new directorfor research, evidence and evaluation. She previously worked as directorof the Qualitative Research Unit at the National Centre for SocialResearch. Ms Lewis said, 'I am delighted to have joined NCB. If we wantto promote the well-being of all children and young people, and improveoutcomes for those who are most disadvantaged, we need excellentresearch which feeds through into policy-making and practicedevelopment.'

Picnic with Pudsey

Nursery children from Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School in Bedford(pictured) raised money for the Children in Need appeal by bringing intheir favourite teddy bears and soft toys for a teddy bears' picnic. Oneenterprising nursery nurse baked a special Pudsey Bear cake, which wasenjoyed with colleagues and picnickers for 1 a slice.
