.. or a nightmare?

I read Marcella Cunningham's letter (4 August) with great interest, because we have had one of the 'new' inspections and it was a nightmare. I run after-school clubs and I had a phone call enquiring, 'What time does your club open, as I am standing outside.' Sheer panic struck.

My supervisor was at her brother's hospital bedside - 48 hours earlier he had had a serious crash and was on life support. Another of my staff had rung in poorly. I was dashing up the motorway to ensure our ratios were correct and my mind was doing cartwheels thinking, have we done this? have we done that?

My arrival gave me further grief, as the school had organised sporting activities after school and not told us. Our children wanted to be outside, so there was intermingling with non-club children and parents which we could not prevent.
