Partnerships go to work with local Jobcentres

Two partnerships have been singled out for praise for making good links with their local Jobcentres. In the winter issue of the Department for Education and Skills magazine, Childcare and Early Years, Bournemouth EYDCP's recruitment officer Tina Andrews recalls how when she first visited local Employment Service Jobcentres, she noticed that childcare jobs were put on the board that showcased all the other care jobs. As of next year, the partnership is planning to have its own permanent stand in each Jobcentre, with information about jobs and training. Each Jobcentre already has a fact sheet setting out anwers to frequently asked questions, Jobcentre staff have been invited to the partnership's recruitment fairs, and the New Deal Lone Parent Advisor sits on the partnership.
