A new design by Birmingham furniture-makers Declan and Tully Gallagher is helping boost children’s development at a West Midlands nursery.

The brothers, known as Twin Design, worked with Reginald Road Day Nursery in Bearwood to produce furniture that encourages movement.

Children at the nursery have been enjoying the ‘Brunel’ bench (pictured), which was custom-made to develop motor skills and aid colour recognition.

Yvonne Kerr, manager, said, ‘The brilliantly designed bench has been a great success with multiple uses.

‘As soon as it arrived the children turned it into a “secret den”, a “big snake” and a “choo-choo train!”.’

Twin Design is developing a similar product in Edgbaston and is working on furniture that includes Bluetooth audio technology and wireless phone charging for educational institutions.
