Step by Step's Mr Face wall-hanging takes the whole expression recognition thing one step further. Instead of exchanging one entire face for another, you can change Mr F's features one at a time. The blue fabric hanging has 22 detachable felt features for you to position on Mr F's dial using Velcro. This gives our hero a wide repertoire of expressions. The wall-hanging measures 50 x 70cm and has two loops with which to hang it up.

Ann Pittman, a nursery teacher at Perrymount Primary School in Forest Hill, nouth London, says, 'We have Mr Face on display the whole time so that the children can interact with it when they choose. The children quite like it. They talk about the expressions they can make, but they get more out of it if there's an adult present to provide the appropriate language. We've had it for over a year and the Velcro still works. We've only lost two of the eyes, I suppose that's not bad when there are so many detachable pieces.'
