Specialised children's health

Specialised children's health services in Wales are set to benefit from an extra 1m from the Welsh Assembly. Health minister Jane Hutt said a review, which is subject to consultation with health authorities, had highlighted the need to reconfigure some services in south Wales, strengthen existing specialised services and continue partnership arrangements with specialist hospitals in England for Welsh children, where appropriate. She added, 'This report is not about hospitals or trusts, it is about improving the quality of paediatric care for the children of Wales. It is about building a strong heart so that the whole body of paediatrics can develop and thrive throughout Wales.'
